The psalmist’s desire for the presence of God reveals that our hearts were created not merely to seek God’s blessings, but to seek God Himself. Through the imagery of pilgrimage, the Valley of Baca, and the longing to dwell in God’s presence, this message shows how our deepest desires ultimately find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Rather than requiring us to reach God through our own effort, the gospel proclaims that God has come near to us in Christ, entering our suffering, overcoming our sin, and opening the way home. As we examine what truly captures our attention, affections, and priorities, we are invited to allow God to reshape our desires so that we increasingly long for His presence above all else.
